GEMINI

Software technologies arrival was of great importance in all fields. In the hospital sector, it has become very important. The progress of this technology has facilitated the work of medical professionals. It has had a major impact on the radiology field, the focal point of all hospitals. It has improved the work and efficiency of this department. In the past, records were frequently lost by clients who asked for them, or were simply forgotten to be returned to their physician. With digital radiographies, it is now possible to copy the images on a compact disk which can be kept in an archive. Technologists needn’t have to look in archives anymore to find prior studies that help medical specialists establish comparisons. Diagnostic stations are now replacing the rolloscope that was previously used to read studies. The Internet has also eliminated the preparation of envelopes containing images that have to be physically delivered to the physician. Radiologists can now consult the station from their posts. In the past, dictations were saved on cassettes and were erased over time to make place for new examinations. Digital conserves more tests thus making the patients health record more complete.

What is Gemini ?

Gemini is a clinical tool that allows radiology specialists to diagnose and review radiology examinations. It provides the necessary elements needed to establish precise diagnostics of studies and integration in the radiology department process. It is a visual station designed to facilitate the work of radiologists. It can also be used by pulmonologists, orthopaedists and sometimes by surgeons for specific operations. This device is also a useful tool for the emergency physicians that don’t have time to wait for another specialist’s opinion to make the first decision. Their diagnosis is then confirmed by a radiologist. A diagnostic station is available in the work area of the emergency room.

Gemini’s Roles

Like its predecessor the rolloscope, the main function of this diagnostic station is to allow a radiologist to read examinations quickly and efficiently. It contains different tools to manage series and images. Furthermore, it can easily compare current and prior studies. Physicians can look for certain images such as the patient id number or case number. Gemini receives images from the PACS auto-router depending on the work list for the user. Dictations can also be produced by this software. New presentation states and key images can also be produced. Gemini is a therefore a very important diagnostic tool that helps to facilitate work for the radiology department.

Versions Available

Gemini 5 is available in different versions, thus maximising the efficiency of this software.

  • Media Version

This Media software is automatically installed when a CD/DVD is burned and can only be used for that specific CD/DVD. It can be read by specialists on all computers.

  • Express Version

This version is available free of charge on the Image website. The user has access to the base tools for displaying and editing, as well as CD/DVD data and the archive server (PACS).

  • Terminal Server Version

This is a simplified version of the complete software. The display is limited to a landscape monitor. A second monitor accesses a DSE or RIS allowing a specialist to review a patient’s record and examination reports of previous studies. This system doesn’t allow multi planar reconstitution. The Terminal Server version can retrieve images from standard PACS servers or from the IMAGEM Database Management System.

  • Complete Version

This version is the most complete of Gemini 5.
